This morning started with an amazing moment. Jet, my foster mom, and I were on our morning walk when she spotted an itty-bitty baby mockingbird. Then I saw him and swoosh I go for the bird.
Jet freaked and yelled, “STAY!” but the baby was soooo tempting to touch.
About the time my leash and muscles reached the bird, Jet scooped up the baby to safety. The parents were screeching at us and flying back and forth over our heads worried the baby was being hurt.
The baby was clueless. Once Jet snatched him from the jaws of death (mine) the bird’s mouth raged open and he squawked so loud I thought she’d picked up a choir. Holy Macaroni! Baby birds can really make a lot of noise.
Once the baby realized he was safe, he shut up. Jet got me under control bummer) and she put the baby back down where his parents were originally working with him to fly. What an adventure.
Now in case you’re missing all the fun this spring, I’ve provided some amazing moments for viewing below: baby birds being born.
PHEASANTS HATCHING
BABY COCKATIEL
BABY ROBIN
I love our morning walks because it’s quiet yet alive. This morning we spotted four rabbits, the baby bird and two squirrels. Jet says she is sad because most humans live through an entire spring and never notice that the most exciting moments in the day are the natural happening events right around them.
So here’s the lesson of the day… You don’t need a movie ticket, a TV game or a guest visitor in your home to be entertained. The best entertainment is the God stuff right in front of your face.
Okay, here’s the question of the day from Pinky who asked: I really, really, really, really miss my mom when she goes off to work. Is there anything that can be done to make it easier to be at home without her?
Dear Pinky:
I’m glad you love your mom so much and I know she’s glad too but it’s not good for your heart to be so sad all day. Share these ideas with your mom and maybe they will help.
1. She can place some of her day old dirty clothes on the floor by your bed so you always have the sweet smell of mom nearby.
2. Get a roll ball from the dog toy store and have your mom place small treats inside it. You can push the ball around throughout the day for some fun and the rewards of rolling it long enough are the treats. The day goes by faster when you’re… distracted.
I’m sure there are other things you can do too. Readers: please send in your suggestions.
