What’s Your Dog “Score”?

Big may be beautiful but it can also be bad. Is your dog overweight? How do you know? Why do you care?

Well, Jet (my foster mom) says that dogs that carry too much weight feel lethargic (word of the day), their joints are stressed (leading to arthritis), and they often suffer from high blood pressure – Sure sounds like the kind problems that humans have when they weigh too much.

Jet got me this cool guide, created by Slentrol, to share with my blog followers. It’s a BARC (Body Assessment Rating for Canines) quiz. Take it with your humans today and don’t forget to check your score at the end.

Take the  BARC QUIZ here:

So, here’s my lesson of the day… There’s no need to guess if your dog is overweight or if you are not feeding your dog properly because the BARC assessment makes it easy to be sure. Try not to forget that just as it is not healthy for humans to be overweight, it’s also not good for your pet companions to carry around extra baggage. In fact, Jet says that after she dumped the extra marriage baggage she was hauling around, she felt 100% better.

Okay, here’s the question of the day from Dillon who asked: How do I know if I’m overweight? Personally, I think I’m gorgeous.

Oh Dillon:

Although I appreciate your healthy sense of self-esteem, I can assure you that you’re overweight. In fact just seven pounds of extra weight on a dog is about the equivalent to an extra 30 pounds on a person. Grab your leash and get your humans out with you until you have a healthier weight.
