Summer Pleasures

Today was not special in human terms. I did not close a big business deal. I did not overcome some great corporate obstacle. No national organization awarded me a big company award.

No, today was just for summer.

I ran through new grass - just grown by God's hands over the last days. I smelled new flowers. Later, I got to go to a nature preserve and chase squirrels and rabbits.

Humans think magnificent days are born out of achieving objectives, strategizing new product launches or driving productivity and profits. They're right and they're wrong. These type of days are special but they are not special enough without an appreciation of little things like summer pleasures.

What I love about being a dog is that we understand the human's drive to do all this type of stuff without forgetting that the simplest summer pleasures are equally wonderful. This is a different kind of wisdom that makes me glad I'm a dog and not a human. This is the kind of wisdom that makes me wonder how humans, who just happen to have a thumb, dominate earth.

Okay, here’s the question of the day from Pinkie who asked: Wind is good. I love it. It's cool. My favorite wind is the kind I can enjoy when I stick my head out of the window of the car. My mom is so weird about this and worries I'll fall out. Any suggestions so she's not worried and I get to enjoy the car rides?

Dear Pinkie:I would try one of these cool gizmos. It's a doo-jiggy that keeps dogs safe when in a car. They ensure your safety (so your mom can chill) and ensure your pleasure too.
